Hunger (word prompt given July 23, 2021)


I’m perpetually hungry. Always. I’m one of those people that get hangry and irritable if I don’t eat frequently. I dropped off my kid at soccer practice and decided to walk for 15 minutes even though the temperature was in the 90’s and fairly humid. I gotta keep up with the walking because marching band season starts soon and I love walking with them and taking photographs/video of the band. However I got a headache from the humidity and also pretty hungry from walking. I didn’t feel like cooking because of my headache, so I made a gluten-free pizza in the toaster oven and added grapes. I burnt it, (I blame my headache.) and it was pretty gross, but I was so hungry I ate most of it. (Doesn’t it look like a pizza-faced guy eating grapes?)

Truth (word prompt given on August 27, 2021): I think truth has been my most challenging word that Jill has provided me. How do you photograph truth? I thought about nature, but we hybridize and clone plants. I really racked my brain for how to photograph truth and failed because we are living in a very challenging and stressful period of time where the truth is elusive.   Tedious (word prompt given on October 1, 2021): Jill gave me tedious as my word for the week. This week it was remarkably easy to think of tedious things! The things that stood out to me the most were the unpleasant things like, insurance, taxes, figuring out technology, and bills. Also, I have ADHD so that makes it exponentially harder at times. When I think of tedious, I think of unpleasant forms and me switching between my regular glasses and reading glasses. Bifocals give me a headache so switching between the two constantly is exceedingly tedious! —Jennifer

  Uncanny (Word prompt given on November 26, 2021): We spent the previous weekend in a hotel farther North. I had wanted to go somewhere warm for vacation, but due to everyone’s time constraints we went towards the snow! My chihuahua Tequila (who I always torture with frequent photo shoots) came along. She has an uncanny talent of making herself at home anywhere. She appreciated the plush comforters at our hotel. We got a separate warm blanket for a pull-out drawer just for her for when we left the room. Tequila loathes the cold and the snow, so she happily enjoyed her creature comforts of the toasty room!
